Age-It (Ageing Well in an Ageing Society) is a national research initiative funded under the Italian PNRR programme that aims to transform Italy into an international scientific hub for ageing research. The project promotes interdisciplinary collaboration across socio-economic, biomedical, and technological domains to better understand the challenges and opportunities of demographic ageing and to support the development of an inclusive society for all ages. Within this framework, Age-It develops data infrastructures, analytical tools, and evidence-based insights to support public policies and decision-making related to population ageing. Within Age-It, I serve as Work Package Leader (WP6) in Spoke 1, which focuses on the demography of ageing, including fertility, family dynamics, migration, and longevity. In this role, I coordinate research activities aimed at collecting, organising, and analysing large-scale historical and real-time data to support policy and planning related to ageing. The work package contributes to the development of fine-grained territorial indicators on individuals and families, data-driven estimates of housing needs linked to demographic transformations, and forecasting models related to households, care needs, and labour force participation. Additionally, the activities involve the development of AI- and Big Data-based analytical prototypes to monitor ageing dynamics and evaluate policy effectiveness, as well as integrating web data into official statistics to advance trusted and smart statistical systems.
